Who it is for

For households, practitioners, brands, and retailers.

Households

Prioritize the packaged foods, sauces, oils, and drinks your family uses most often.

Practitioners

Give clients product-level evidence when exposure reduction matters.

Brands

Audit finished products through anonymous retail sourcing instead of hand-picked samples.

Retailers

Compare categories and suppliers with independent, published chemical data.

The problem

The data gap

Phthalates and bisphenols are used to manufacture food packaging, processing equipment, and storage containers. They can leach into the products inside. Companies are not required to test for them or disclose the results.

In 2023, the European Food Safety Authority lowered its safe exposure limit for BPA by 20,000xEFSA, 2023 based on new immune system evidence. Most similar chemicals remain poorly studied and loosely regulated.

This is not about alarm. It is about measurement. You cannot make informed decisions about the products your family consumes without independent data.

Methodology

All analysis performed by Light Labs, an ISO 17025-accredited laboratory.

Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Point-in-time measurements. Full methodology published.

01

Triplicate testing

Every product is tested three times, using separately sourced samples from different production lots.

Lot-to-lot variation of up to 59% has been documented in identical products.

02

Independent sourcing

We purchase all products anonymously through normal retail channels.

Results reflect what any consumer would encounter — not hand-picked samples.

03

Published openly

All results are published to our public testing database.

Your testing creates transparency and market pressure on manufacturers.

FAQ

Questions

Each product is screened across two panels: a phthalates panel covering 18 analytes (including DEHP, DBP, BBP, and their common substitutes) and a bisphenol panel covering BPA, BPS, and BPF. These are plastic-derived chemicals known or suspected to be endocrine disruptors.

Single-sample testing can be misleading. Research has shown that identical products from different production lots can vary by up to 59% in chemical concentration. By sourcing and testing three separate samples of each product, we capture lot-to-lot variation and provide more reliable data.

All testing is performed by Light Labs, an ISO 17025-accredited laboratory, using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) with isotope dilution — the gold standard for detecting trace organic compounds. Protocols follow established EPA and FDA methods.

No. We source all products anonymously through normal retail channels. This ensures results reflect what any consumer would encounter, not a hand-picked sample. After purchase, you submit your product list and we handle the rest.

Yes. All results are published to the laboratory.love public testing database. Your testing generates data that benefits all consumers and creates market pressure on manufacturers to audit their supply chains. You get clarity on the products you care about, and everyone benefits from a growing body of independent data.

Results represent point-in-time measurements. Manufacturing processes, ingredient sourcing, and supply chains can change. We are transparent about this limitation — our reports include the date of purchase and testing so results can be interpreted with appropriate context.

From purchase to published report, expect 6 to 8 weeks. This includes product sourcing from retail, shipping to the laboratory, triplicate analysis across both chemical panels, data verification, and report preparation.

Each product requires three separately sourced samples tested across two chemical panels — that is six individual lab tests per product. The cost covers ISO-accredited laboratory analysis, anonymous product acquisition, sample preparation, shipping, data verification, and reporting. Multi-product packages reduce the per-product cost significantly.

Sales are final once product sourcing begins. If we are unable to source or complete testing on a product for any reason, you receive a full refund for that product. We will work with you to select a replacement product if preferred.
